This week, please join us in praying for IFES student ministry in Mali. Christians represent only about 3% of the population of that country, with Islam being the predominant religion.
Students in GBEEM (the IFES student movement in Mali) recently had a day dedicated to helping local churches, especially pastors and their families. Students gave time to help with a variety of practical tasks, including gardening, cutting wood, cleaning motorbikes and finding food for their cattle.
Praise God for this great expression of love through action and service. Please pray for such initiative to bear much fruit in the lives of those who benefited from it, and that church members, encouraged by the example of these students, might reach out in practical ways to those around them who do not yet know the love of Christ.
As we ask you to pray for GBEEM, please think too of Josué Djiré, the General Secretary of the movement, who had a leg injury following an accident on his way to get his visa to attend the IFES World Assembly in 2007. The operation at the time was not done well and his leg was not healed properly. He underwent surgery last week to correct the previous operation. Praise God for the success of his operation, and for the wonderful expression of community within the family of French-speaking African IFES movements through prayer as well as providing food, shelter and financial help. Pray that his leg will continue to heal well.
