experiencing the extraordinary in the ordinary
At Christmas we celebrate Emmanuel – God come from heaven to earth.
We celebrate the mighty king of the Jews, born in poverty in an animal shed.
We celebrate the extraordinary, clothed in the ordinary.
A key priority for IFES student ministry is the formation of leaders of integrity,
prepared to lead sacrificially, and to bring stability and dignity to the
societies they serve. Ordinary people, bringing about extraordinary change.
This Christmas we want to give you the opportunity to impact the lives of
ordinary people in a most extraordinary way. Will you help us to release the
energy and power of Christ’s presence in the lives of students?
We want to see students built into communities of disciples, transformed
by the gospel and impacting the university, the church and society for the
glory of Christ.
Giving to the IFES 2008 Christmas appeal brings you the chance to touch
the lives of ordinary people in an extraordinary way.
IFES works to make the most of what you give by investing in ministry
around the world which seeks to make lasting change to society.
Can you think of a better return on your investment?

In Ghana, recent discoveries of oil have led to an influx of wealth in the country, increasing the
disparity between rich and poor.
Bringing Christian values of justice and wise stewardship is important if the oil is to be a blessing
to this very poor country. The IFES movement in Ghana (GHAFES) is increasingly aware of the
need to have men and women of distinction leading the country as it comes to terms with the
new-found wealth.
GHAFES is implementing a programme to deliberately invest in envisioning and
equipping students who show promise as political leaders, to prepare them for student
politics. They are helping them to shape a manifesto that reflects their faith and
Christian ethics.
For the next general election in Ghana, GHAFES wants to identify candidates who have
received this training and are willing to stand for election; those who share a vision for
a bright and stable future for the country, where the fruits of the new-found wealth can
be shared by all – rich and poor; ordinary students, prepared to serve to bring about
extraordinary change, responding to the gospel call in their lives.
All over the world, students like these are being equipped to think biblically about the
issues that face their society, both locally and globally; exercising godly
leadership in the university and beyond; being stewards of the
gifts God has given. All over the world, ordinary students
live out the extraordinary message of the Christmas season
every day, as they share the love of God made man.
