The IFES International Office is in Summertown, Oxford, about two miles north of the city centre along the Banbury Road. The office is on the top floor of Norwich Union House, a red-brick building, which is set back from the road with a lawn in front.

by rail

Information on rail journeys and fares to/from Oxford are available from National Rail Enquiries, telephone: 08457 484950.

From Oxford station, it is a ten minute walk to Magdalen Street in the city centre, where there are frequent buses to Summertown. You can also get a bus to the city centre from outside the rail station.

All buses to Kidlington and Cutteslowe go via Summertown (bus numbers 2, 2A, 2B and 7A, 7B). These buses leave from Magdalen Street (outside Debenhams department store).

On the bus, ask for a ticket to 'Hobson Road, Summertown'. Get off the bus at the second stop after the Summertown shops (the only shopping area you will go through on Banbury Road), just after Hobson Road on left. The bus stop is right outside our office.

by road from the north

Leave the M40 at junction 9 and follow signs to Oxford along the A34.

After six miles take the slip road at the Peartree interchange (junction with the A44) and at the roundabout take the second exit: A44, signposted Oxford and Cheltenham.

At the next roundabout (Wolvercote Roundabout) take the second exit: A40, signposted Ring Road and London.

At the next roundabout take the third exit onto Banbury Road, signposted to Summertown.

Continue for half a mile. The office is on the right, shortly after Summerhill Road.

Please note that parking is not available unless it has been pre-arranged. There is a pay-and-display car park in Summertown. Continue into Oxford on Banbury Road and the car park is signposted on the left, just after the shops.

by road from the south

Follow the A34 northbound to the junction with the A44, Peartree interchange, signposted Ring Road and The Midlands. (There is an earlier turning, south of Oxford, signposted to Oxford and the Ring Road, which you should ignore.)

Leave the A34 at the Peartree interchange and at the roundabout take the second exit: A44, signposted Oxford and Cheltenham.

At the next roundabout (Wolvercote Roundabout) take the second exit: A40, signposted Ring Road and London.

At the next roundabout take the third exit onto Banbury Road, signposted to Summertown.

Continue for half a mile. The office is on the right, shortly after Summerhill Road.

by road from London

Leave the M25 at junction 16 and take the M40 westbound towards Oxford and Birmingham. Leave the M40 at junction 8 and follow signs to Oxford, A40.

After a few miles, the area becomes more urban and you reach a large roundabout with McDonalds on the left.

At this roundabout take the 4th exit: A40, signposted Ring Road and The Midlands.

At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Banbury Road (A4165) , signposted to Summertown.

Continue for half a mile. The office is on the right, shortly after Summerhill Road.

by bus from London

The Oxford Tube - www.oxfordtube.com - and the Oxford Espress - www.espress.info - run between London and Oxford during the day and night. You can catch them from Victoria railway station, Victoria coach station, and other points in London.

When you board, ask for 'Gloucester Green bus station, Oxford'.

From Gloucester Green, turn left onto George Street in the city centre, and continue for about 100m to Magdalen Street where there are frequent buses to Summertown. All buses to Kidlington and Cutteslowe go via Summertown (bus numbers 2, 2A, 2B and 7A, 7B).

On the bus, ask for a ticket to 'Hobson Road, Summertown'. Get off the bus at the second stop after the Summertown shops (the only shopping area you will go through on Banbury Road), just after Hobson Road on left. The bus stop is right outside our office.

by bus from the airports

'the airline' - www.theairline.info - runs a 24 hour service from Gatwick and Heathrow airports to Oxford. Coaches leave Heathrow from the central bus station and from terminal 4. At Gatwick, coaches leave from both the north and south terminal bus stations.

When you board, ask for 'Gloucester Green bus station, Oxford'. Gloucester Green bus station is also the usual destination for National Express coaches and for services from London and the London airports.
